The Kawasaki Z1 900 went on sale in 1972; in comparison the Honda CB 750 Four, undisputed queen until that time, suddenly seemed aged. The Z1 is more powerful and elegant and soon became the new reference point for the most demanding motorcyclists. The high handlebar, in American style, makes it very easy and light handling, even given its fair weight of 230 kg. The soft suspensions provides unmatched comfort at low and medium speeds, but the oscillations are somewhat noticeable when you open the throttle. The engine is a solid work of art that expresses its full potential only when revved up; at low revs it is docile, but when you bring the gears to the limit it becomes a wild beast, able to put to the test an experienced motorcyclist. The front double disc brake (the second disc mounted on our bike was an optional at the time) ensures excellent control at touring pace and allows you to enjoy the pleasure of riding a such a legend in total safety. This model is a fast touring bike; the seat is very comfortable and the vibrations are almost zero. Absolutely recommended for couples. “The King”, as it was called on the Anglo-Saxon market, was the motorcycle of the Chips (California Highway Police) and entertained millions of fans of the homonymous TV series, protagonist of the inevitable chases on the Californian straights. And of course no one could escape the unbeatable white Z1!
